Do you dare to follow what your heart truly wants? Do you dare to dream of what your life would like if you were fully expressed? What would it feel like to not hold back, to speak your truth, and follow your dreams?

As women we often learn, through shame and judgement, to distrust our own desires. Our mothers and grandmothers were often silenced, and many believed that their own wants and dreams were something to overcome or avoid. We have been conditioned to believe that we are not worthy of what we genuinely want from this life.

But times are a changing…

We are living in a time where women are healing and waking up to who we truly are. Women’s voices are getting louder, and we are rising. We are also living in a time of tremendous heartbreak and pain. I believe that true healing happens through connection—with ourselves and with others. When we connect with what we truly want, what would truly bring a sense of passion, purpose, and fulfillment to our lives, then our own lives and the world around us will begin to change. And when we join together as women and give each other permission and strength to become more fully expressed, then the heartbreak can begin to mend. This is our gift and our medicine.

On July 14th, and again on August 4th, Michelle Long, Founder of The Practice, will be leading a very special day-long women’s retreat with special guest Julee Herrmann. Julee is the founder of Reclaiming Studios, an Intuitive Painting Studio, now at The Practice for Women. The day will bring together The Practice and Intuitive Painting.

In the retreat, we’ll bring clear, loving attention to what each of us truly wants, and how we can become more fully expressed versions of ourselves. We will gather together in a compassionate circle of women and move through layers of fear, doubt, criticism, and worry, to finally hear our true voices and get clear on what it is we want.

In the morning, Michelle will guide you through a session of The Practice. We will sink into sacred movement, nourishing silence, journaling, deep conversations, and inspiring group practices. As we move into the afternoon, Julee will take you even deeper on this journey through meditation, painting, and intuitive expression. But this day is not about yoga, nor about making art. It’s about moving energy and removing any blocks that keep you from yourself. It’s about connection and feeling fully expressed. It’s about daring to follow what your heart truly wants.

The retreat is suitable for women of all ages and levels of yoga and art experience. Please bring a water bottle, snacks, and your journal.

Hi, I’m Michelle.
Founder of The Practice.

For 20 years I have been holding sacred space for women while building and leading feminine yoga and spiritual communities. I know that when women gather with intention, when we remember our true essence, and find the courage to live soul-aligned lives, we heal the world.

The Practice is my offering to the world, an effort to bring women together in sacred community, so that we all may rise.

Why I left the Bay Area

This is a personal story about listening to my inner call and making a huge life change.

This piece is really intimate...

A letter home to my mother.

A reflection on 2020, living with chronic illness, and surviving the pandemic.

May community and sacred feminine sisterhood be the path towards healing and liberation.
